Marketing an Oscar Nominee for Best Foreign Language Film

Challenge Cohen Media teamed up with Amazon Studios to distribute ‘The Salesman,’ a film nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 2017 Academy Awards. The Iranian submission, the film became a lightning rod during a politically sensitive and divisive period that included a travel ban against anyone entering the US from Iran, including the film's director and actors. Solution An awareness campaign was developed to reach members of the Academy while simultaneously marketing to moviegoers in key markets as the film opened during the Oscar voting period. Miller Advertising designed banner ads and entertainment roadblocks as well as strong print ads touting all the strong reviews.
